Lindsay Clancy’s Trial Breaks as She Uncontrollably Sobs and Jury Gets Emotional Over Testimony

Emotional scenes unfolded in the courtroom during Lindsay Clancy’s trial as a medical examiner testified about autopsy photos of the defendant’s youngest child.
Clancy is charged with murder in the January 2023 deaths of her three young children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan. They were fatally strangled with exercise bands in their Duxbury, Mass., home.
During the eighth day of Clancy’s trial on Thursday, Aug. 6, Massachusetts state medical examiner Kimberley Springer testified about graphic photos from Callan’s autopsy and described his neck wounds.
Though the court proceedings were streamed live by the Associated Press and several other outlets, the photos, which the jury saw, were not shown on the broadcast.
As Springer was testifying about the photos and the wounds suffered by the 8-month-old child, Clancy could be heard sobbing.
She continued to weep as she was taken out of the courtroom during a recess.
NBC 10 commentator Sue O’Connell, who is covering the trial from the courtroom, noted that as the photos were shown, multiple jurors appeared to have emotional reactions, while some dabbed their eyes with tissues.

Following the recess, Clancy returned to the courtroom looking more composed.
Clancy has pleaded not guilty to murder, claiming a lack of criminal responsibility due to postpartum psychosis and being overmedicated when she killed the children.
