Selma Blair’s service dog, Scout, was traveling with the actress during the Oct. 11 alleged incident aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York, a source tells PEOPLE.
The English Labrador, who has accompanied Blair at public events and helped her navigate daily life since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, is currently with Blair’s defense attorney, according to a Queens Criminal Court clerk.
Blair, 54, was aboard the flight on Sunday, Oct. 11, when she allegedly became involved in an altercation that left a flight attendant and a passenger with injuries, according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by PEOPLE. She was also accused of kicking a police officer and a nurse once on the ground, according to CBS News.
“One passenger and one flight attendant sustained some minor injuries — a bloody nose as well as some bite marks,” the pilot said in the audio, describing the situation to authorities. The pilot also requested medical personnel at the gate to examine the injured individuals.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said Blair had been “physically abusive” aboard the flight and was taken into custody and hospitalized after the plane landed, according to a statement from the agency. One flight attendant was also taken to the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident, according to the airport authority.
A source told PEOPLE that Blair is expected to face charges in both New York state and federal court. She is expected to face two assault charges in Queens Criminal Court and federal charges in petty violations court in Brooklyn, according to sources who spoke with PEOPLE.

A representative for Blair told PEOPLE on Monday, Oct. 12, that the actress had experienced a medical emergency.
“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the representative said.
A source subsequently told PEOPLE that Blair had been released from the hospital, though she remains in custody, according to CBS News.
The Legally Blonde actress welcomed Scout into her family in December 2021, after her neurologist recommended she consider a service dog for potential physical and emotional support, she told PEOPLE in 2022.
At the time, Blair described Scout as a source of assistance with her mobility, explaining how he helped her regain her balance when she experienced muscle spasms or difficulty moving.
“He’s with me all the time. If I fall into a big [muscle] spasm or have some trouble moving and need to recalibrate, he can get between my legs, help me get up, and balance me. It’s given me a lot of independence,” she told PEOPLE.

The Cruel Intentions actress has also brought Scout to high-profile events, including the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, where she shared photos of the dog spending time with celebrities.
The pair have been traveling together in recent months, with the actress sharing a video captioned, “From LA to New Mexico to LA to NYC to LA Scout and I have been busy.”
Blair publicly disclosed her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018. She previously faced an incident aboard an international flight in 2016, which she attributed to mixing alcohol with medication and later described as a “big mistake.”
