Bride Goes Viral After She Notices Cauliflower Heads and Cabbage in Her Wedding Florals (Exclusive)

A bride’s wedding floral arrangements have gone viral for their unique composition.

When Alyssa Amoroso, 35, was planning her wedding, she had to make some last-minute budget cuts, and asked her wedding planner to somehow reduce the cost of florals without sacrificing the overall vision. They had to think outside the box for a more affordable solution that would still maintain texture and fullness, and ultimately found it in the produce aisle.

“Me when I got up to the altar & realized there were heads of cauliflower in the florals,” Amoroso wrote over clips from her ceremony posted on TikTok on July 24. In the video compilation, which has over 11 million views, the bride and groom exchange vows in front of a white and green mix of blooms and vegetables. To the couple’s surprise, the lush design featured edible elements of cauliflower heads and leafy cabbage.

Amoroso continued in the caption, “Honestly, highlight of the wedding was this surprises bc I will never not fondly chuckle at it 🥦 (plus, it looked beautiful!).”

Although the vegetables were included in the floral rendering image shared by her full-service wedding planner, Creative Destination Events, Amoroso tells PEOPLE that she didn’t look closely at it and signed off assuming they were cheaper flowers. She “had no idea” that cauliflower and cabbage were incorporated until she was standing at the altar on April 21 at The Cape, a luxury hotel along the coastline of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“We were in the final stretch of planning, and I definitely had decision fatigue. I signed off on [the rendering] without looking as closely as I probably should have,” Amoroso recalls. “Then, about a week before the wedding, my planner mentioned the cabbage on a call. I remember pausing for a second but genuinely assuming ‘cabbage’ was just the name of a flower I’d never heard of before, so I didn’t question it.”

Even as the content creator and founder of luxury tea brand Roso was admiring the “beautiful” arrangements from the balcony of her getting-ready suite as they were being set up, she didn’t realize what they were made up of. “I couldn’t really make out the details from that far away,” she explains.

The moment she reached the altar, everything clicked.

“The second I got to the altar, I looked over at my husband and whispered, ‘Wait… is that cauliflower?’ ” she remembers. “We looked at each other and immediately started giggling.”

Amoroso “didn’t care” that there was food in her florals because “it looked gorgeous either way,” despite some commenters poking fun at the arrangements. “Ma’am, that is a whole salad 😂😂,” one user wrote, while another commenter teased, “Was your florist a rabbit by chance?”

Amoroso tells PEOPLE, “If anything, it ended up becoming one of my favorite little details from the whole wedding because it was such a fun conversation starter. Guests kept asking if it was actually cauliflower, and everyone agreed it wasn’t just unexpected — it was actually a really clever way to create that lush, full floral look.”

The bride predicts that the trend of incorporating produce into wedding florals will increase in popularity. She herself even originally wanted to include pears because she’d “seen so much inspiration on Pinterest.” A few of her arrangements featured green grapes.

“So this ended up being a really fun and unexpected take on that idea,” she says. “Looking back, I honestly love that it happened. It’s one of those little moments we’ll laugh about forever.”

Amoroso adds that her video being viewed by millions of people “makes it even funnier.”

“And again, I love the final look, so it’s not just about it being funny for me — it was perfect to me!” she says.
