With more than 360 years of marriage between them, six Wisconsin couples have said “we still do” after renewing their vows at a local senior living community.
The couples, who are all residents at the Teal Shores Senior Living Community, a Capri Community in Mequon, Wis., came together for a joint vow renewal ceremony on Jan. 27, celebrating their decades of marriage.
All of the couples have been married for more than 45 years.
Thomas and Lorrie Wollersheim, who have been wed for 67 years, were one of the lucky couples to participate, jokingly sharing with local station CBS 58 that their secret to a long-lasting union is “no death” and “separate bathrooms.”
With 65 years together, Bruce and Rosemary Malec emphasized laughter.
“I think a good sense of humor is important in a good marriage,” Rosemary said, while Bruce kept it simple, saying, “The secret is to have a great wife, that’s the biggest secret.”

Bruce also said that while it’s easy to get caught up in the hard times, it’s important to focus on the good times with your partner.
“When things get tough, you start thinking about all the tough times, try to take a break and think of the good times and realize that, hey, this is all worthwhile because look what I’ve got,” Bruce shared.
