In a new interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.townandcountrymag.com\/leisure\/arts-and-culture\/a73286940\/taylor-sheridan-cover-interview-2026\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\"><em>Town &amp; Country<\/em><\/a>, published on Thursday, Aug. 20, she called her visit \u201cquite an adventure for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d never been anywhere like that and had hardly ever been to Texas,\u201d Mirren, 81, said of the property, located in Guthrie, Texas. \u201cIt was quite a culture shock for a foreigner to land in that heartland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also detailed her initial impressions of Sheridan. \u201cThe first thing you notice with Taylor is he\u2019s very honest,\u201d she said, also pointing out the second thing she noticed: \u201cHe does not have the hands of a writer. The pair played married <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/dutton-family-tree-1883-1923-yellowstone-7507819\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">couple Jacob and Cara Dutton<\/a> in the series, which followed the Dutton family\u2019s patriarch and matriarch as they endured the challenges of the early 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>Never miss a story \u2014 sign up for <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/people-news-daily-newsletter-sign-up-8692701\">PEOPLE\u2019s free daily newsletter<\/a> to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.<\/p>\n<p>Other actors in Sheridan\u2019s universe have sounded off on his writing, with <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/morgan-freeman\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Morgan Freeman<\/a> (who stars in <em>Lioness<\/em>) telling <em>The New York Times <\/em>in August that he believes it \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/morgan-freeman-praises-taylor-sheridan-lioness-writing-12035556\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">has to do more<\/a> with the human experience, what people are actually going through, emotionally, in a lot of cases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freeman stars as Secretary of State Edwin Mullins in the Paramount+ series, currently in its third season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou saw that a lot in <em>Yellowstone<\/em>, and you actually see it a lot in any of his writings,\u201d Freeman said in the interview, published on Friday. \u201cAnd here, in <em>Lioness<\/em>, in Joe\u2019s [Salda\u00f1a\u2019s character] case, for instance, he is dealing with a woman whose life is on the line very often. She has kids and a husband.
