The scene has quickly taken over social media, with one <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/prfctlysabrina\/status\/2085349301858009278\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow\">fan<\/a> even dubbing it the \u201cperfect first kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Quebec native, 23, knew that it was going to be a big moment, given that it was \u201cmy first kiss of the show,\u201d but he tells PEOPLE, \u201cI don\u2019t think I realized in the moment how big it was going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a pretty special day, and it was obviously really fun. It was fun to shoot with Ella,\u201d he says of his costar, 24, who leads the series as a 17-year-old New Yorker whose world is turned upside down when she learns the grandfather she never knew named her \u2014 and her twin brother (<a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/mark-ruffalos-son-keen-25-says-he-turned-to-acting-during-pandemic-12036851\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Keen Ruffalo<\/a>) \u2014 as heirs to the Canadian island of Sterling Point. \u201cI mean, every scene with Ella was really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whiteduck-Lavoie does want to clear some things up about the viral scene, though. \u201cI\u2019m seeing some false rumors online saying that it was improv. It wasn\u2019t improv. I didn\u2019t just pull out that move. And then it was Ella and Megan\u2019s idea to have it happen in the closet. So when we got on set, our DP [Kristen Correll, or] KII, and Megan were like, \u2018Okay, we have to find a way to make it feel special because it\u2019s Ellis and Annie\u2019s kiss. It has to be big. It has to be special.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were trying a bunch of stuff and it just wasn\u2019t working,\u201d he recalls. Kristen Correll, or \u201cKII\u201d as Whiteduck-Lavoie calls her, was the one to come up with the idea of Ellis pulling Annie into him. \u201cShe was like, \u2018Okay, watch this. What if you guys are sitting in front of each other and you just&#8230;\u2019 And then she grabs Megan and pulls her in, and everyone was like, \u2018Oh, wait, that\u2019s good. That\u2019s good.\u2019 And then we ran with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember the reactions on set of the whole hair and makeup department. Everyone was freaking out behind the screen. I was just like, \u2018Yeah, I guess it worked out good.\u2019 I didn\u2019t really think much of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeeing everything online [now], I\u2019m like, \u2018Holy s&#8212;. This is insane,\u2019 \u201d he says \u2014 and that\u2019s true of not only the kiss scene. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I was expecting, but the love is just insane. I have no words. It\u2019s so crazy,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m still pinching myself every morning.
