Felton\u2019s casting only added to the excitement, with audiences regularly flocking to New York City\u2019s Lyric Theatre to catch Felton deliver the familiar \u201cScared, Potter?\u201d taunt yet again.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Felton\u2019s run was so popular, he extended multiple times. Most recently, the actor had been scheduled to appear in the production through Nov. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Now, fans have a few more weeks to see Felton in the show, though he has several planned absences scheduled. Written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne and director John Tiffany, the play had its world premiere in London in July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, more than 11 million tickets have been sold worldwide. The production has earned 60 major honors, including nine Laurence Olivier Awards and six Tony Awards.<\/p>\n<p>The show has also become the most successful non-musical play in Broadway history, grossing more than $430 million and selling more than 3.5 million tickets in New York. It currently ranks as Broadway\u2019s third longest-running play.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to New York, productions are currently running in London, Hamburg, Tokyo and the Netherlands, while a North American touring production continues across the continent.<\/p>\n<p>The current Broadway cast of <em>Harry Potter and the Cursed Child<\/em> is led by John Skelley as Harry Potter and Trish Lindstrom as Ginny Potter, with Emmet Smith as their son Albus Potter. Rachel Christopher and Daniel Fredrick play Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively, with Janae Hammond as their daughter Rose Granger-Weasley.
