The news was announced on Thursday, Aug. 6, with posts to her <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dbsrz_UJDih\/?igsh=MWd2d205cG52ZzJvaQ%3D%3D\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"noopener\">social media pages<\/a>, where she documented her life and treatment for over 1 million followers across platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Towle also regularly published personal essays to her <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/@sydneytowle\/notes\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"null\">Substack page<\/a> in a series she titled \u201cStoop Thoughts.\u201d On May 11, she shared her last <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/sydneytowle.substack.com\/p\/in-sickness-and-in-health\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"null\">full-length post<\/a>, which was titled \u201cIn sickness and in health: why accepting help is a symbol of love.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/1Qf1OLFNL23AjklR4mKnmDuP7PU=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/sydney-towle-2-050125-30a40c7c3e3449a3b4b5936b5a81f44b.jpg\" alt=\"Sydney Towle.Credit: Sydney Towle\" title=\"Sydney Towle\" \/><figcaption><i>Sydney Towle.<br \/>Credit: Sydney Towle<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She discussed her reluctance to ask for help as her strength waned amid chemotherapy and her reaction to friends asking to visit her in the hospital, where she noted that she\u2019d recently been readmitted. Towle confessed that she felt a certain amount of inexplicable guilt upon realizing that her loved ones were interested in coming to see and support her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis guilt only exists as a bi-product of something askew in my brain. Likely a result of trauma, as are most things. It is not real. Accepting help, asking for help, is normal. It is how our world has always worked \u2014 leaning on one another, forming communities, certainly not operating in isolation,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing surrounded by love and friends and laughter is healing. It does make you feel better,\u201d Towle continued in her honest reflection.<\/p>\n<p>The late content creator expressed her happiness having her friends in her hospital room, despite the circumstances that led them all to that specific location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause this is what it\u2019s all about, really. All that matters in life, as life keeps reaffirming for me, is the people you love. The people you get to share this life with. The people you get to laugh with until your belly hurts. The ones whose shoulders are there for when the tears start falling. It\u2019s not guilt or shame or feeling like a burden. It is love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Towle was initially diagnosed with cancer at the age of 23. Since then, she opened up her life to her audience online and discussed the details of her treatment.
