Gilson was shot by Duffey, 48, who then fatally shot himself, the Owasso Police Department previously confirmed to PEOPLE.<\/p>\n<p>In Landers\u2019s filing, which was obtained by PEOPLE, he argued that, because Duffey \u201cintentionally and feloniously took the life\u201d of Gilson, his beneficiaries should be barred from inheriting any of her assets. He cited an <a href=\"https:\/\/oksenate.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2019-12\/os84.pdf\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oklahoma statute<\/a> that stipulates no person convicted of murder should inherit from the victim\u2019s estate.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/ZU0eAOMe-pONsaiCKcBdKmt9KUc=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/sara-gilson-3-072526-19faa971d1644516b1f4653a49dd7052.jpg\" alt=\"Sara GilsonCredit: GoFundMe\" title=\"Sara Gilson\" \/><figcaption><i>Sara Gilson<br \/>Credit: GoFundMe<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The filing adds that Gilson\u2019s estate includes personal property in Tulsa County.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to PEOPLE in the days before his filing, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sara-gilsons-ex-says-he-begged-her-to-break-up-with-estranged-husband-before-murder-12027101\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Landers remembered<\/a> her as \u201ca mom, a daughter, a sister and a friend,\u201d as well as \u201ca beautiful person, inside and out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe loved people immensely, and without judgment,\u201d he said. \u201cHer greatest achievement in life, though, was in our two babies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that they divorced roughly seven years prior, but they had remained friends and had continued to co-parent their children.<\/p>\n<p>In the years before her death, Gilson had filed for several protective orders against Duffey, including for an <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/influencer-sara-gilson-filed-emergency-protective-order-against-ex-before-death-12027004\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">emergency protective order<\/a> against him on June 10, after which he was ordered out of their home and to stay 100 yards away from her, per court records viewed by PEOPLE.
