Of course, my first question was about the makeup process. \u2018What are we going to do about that?\u2019 It was very long in the original.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actress continued, \u201cAnd, you know, that was with an entirely different studio. So with Marvel Universe, it\u2019s incredible. It was so fun to go back with my old cast and be with the new cast, and it\u2019s all been very surreal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romijn played Mystique in the original <em>X-Men<\/em> trilogy from 2000 to 2006. <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/jennifer-lawrence\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Jennifer Lawrence<\/a> took on a younger version of the character in the prequel films. Romijn\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kiCGuoq8S2E\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">transformation into Mystique<\/a> took up to nine hours and involved full-body prosthetics and painting.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/MMhNWTIxy_3UT9oWA_t3vziASss=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/Rebecca-Romijn-Avengers-072726-DN2--a6e5565fb3e049dabce0d49f428da6a3.jpg\" alt=\"Rebecca Romijn.\" title=\"Rebecca Romijn\" \/><figcaption><i>Rebecca Romijn.<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It\u2019s been four years since <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/robert-downey-jr-chris-hemsworth-chris-evans-avengers-doomsdsay-trailer-12022366\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"null\"><em>Avengers: Doomsday<\/em><\/a> was first announced, and fans finally got a first glimpse when Marvel released the film\u2019s first trailer on July 20.<\/p>\n<p>The upcoming <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/anthony-mackie-says-avengers-doomsday-has-that-old-marvel-feeling-11715369\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"null\">fifth <em>Avengers<\/em> movie<\/a> stars <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/chris-hemsworth\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"null\">Chris Hemsworth<\/a> as he reprises his role as Thor and leads the newly assembled team. Together, the group must put aside their histories and differences to face off against the villain Doctor Doom (<a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/robert-downey-jr\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"null\">Robert Downey Jr.<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Many new details about the film were announced at <a class=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/stars-ew-san-diego-comiccon-2024-closing-night-party-photos-8684403\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"null\">San Diego Comic-Con<\/a> in July 2024, including the new title and villain. She also made a cameo appearance in the prequel film<em> X-Men: First Class.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a fantastic franchise to be a part of. I\u2019ll love that cast until the day I die.
