He died the next morning, and a physician at the hospital later reported concerns to police tied to the child&#8217;s laboratory results, authorities said.<\/p>\n\n<p>The mother \u201cprovided inconsistent statements regarding the incident,\u201d the BCSO said. Police added that Dominic later \u201cadmitted to mixing a liquid solution and administering it to her son, leading to his death.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The mixture consisted of table salt and another undisclosed liquid, <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2026\/05\/28\/mother-accused-killing-1-year-old-son-by-injecting-mixture-into-his-feeding-tube\/\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland 19 News<\/a> and <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fox10tv.com\/2026\/05\/26\/baldwin-mother-arrested-after-death-17-month-old-son\/\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fox 10 News<\/a> reported, citing a criminal complaint.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a concoction, a liquid mixture, that was introduced into the child\u2019s preexisting feeding tube that then led to this medical emergency that ultimately led to the child\u2019s death,\u201d BCSO Capt. Justin Correa told Cleveland 19 News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this mixture, the level of ingredients that were given to this child \u2014 maybe to an adult, a normal, healthy adult, might not have presented the way it did \u2014 but of course a child, a seventeen-month-old who has preexisting medical conditions, I think it could have [led] to a greater medical emergency,\u201d added Correa.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/1HxHYkeE5kb9uYA7lLozYEGB_1w=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/baldwin-county-jail-053026-21b61154a98e45ba91343ef7363d4698.jpg\" alt=\"Baldwin County Jail in AlabamaCredit: Google\" title=\"Baldwin County Jail \" \/><figcaption><i>Baldwin County Jail in Alabama<br \/>Credit: Google<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Prosecutors have accused Dominick of intentionally harming her son so she could be relieved of his care, Cleveland 19 News and Fox 10 News reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do believe that she did know that this would harm the child \u2026 because she knew that if the child was taken to the hospital that there would be adequate [medical professionals] who would then be tending to that child,\u201d Teresa Heinz, the Baldwin County chief assistant district attorney, told Cleveland 19 News.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage?
