{"id":544,"date":"2026-05-12T11:37:35","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T11:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adsandthings.com\/winews\/2026\/05\/12\/mark-consuelos-shares-the-painful-realization-hes-had-since-his-fathers-death-exclusive\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T11:37:35","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T11:37:35","slug":"mark-consuelos-shares-the-painful-realization-hes-had-since-his-fathers-death-exclusive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adsandthings.com\/winews\/2026\/05\/12\/mark-consuelos-shares-the-painful-realization-hes-had-since-his-fathers-death-exclusive\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Consuelos Shares the Painful Realization He&#8217;s Had Since His Father&#8217;s Death (Exclusive)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PEOPLE has an exclusive clip of the actor&#8217;s appearance on the &#8216;I&#8217;ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario&#8217; podcast<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<h3>NEED TO KNOW<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mark Consuelos reflects on his father\u2019s death, describing him as a \u201cmythical character\u201d and a major influence<\/li>\n<li>The actor appeared on the <em>I&#8217;ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario <\/em>podcast, in a clip PEOPLE can exclusively premiere<\/li>\n<li>Working on Broadway helped him process his grief, Consuelos says, but the loss hit harder during a family memorial<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/mark-consuelos\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\">Mark Consuelos<\/a> is opening up about the loss of his father.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive clip from the Tuesday, May 12 episode of iHeartRadio&#8217;s<em> <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/show\/2Ao7ExIQd1nXBQb1Zvacbv\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow\">I&#8217;ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario<\/a><\/em> podcast, the <em>Live with Kelly and Mark<\/em> co-host became emotional while reflecting on the death of his father, <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/all-about-mark-consuelos-parents-11943809\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\">Saul Consuelos<\/a>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/mark-consuelos-father-saul-consuelos-dies-after-a-long-illness-11943358\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\">died in March 23 after a lengthy illness<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, I lost my father five weeks ago,\u201d Consuelos tells host Tommy DiDario, in a conversation taped on May 1. \u201cAnd it was kind of a brutal five-month saga leading up to him passing. I knew it was happening. Everything good that I\u2019ve kind of globbed onto of how I carry myself comes from him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess what I haven\u2019t said is, I miss my dad,\u201d he continues. \u201cI\u2019ve never said that. I\u2019ve never said, \u2018I miss my dad.\u2019 Because he\u2019s always been in my life. He\u2019s always been available to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/7oTlHimzbMM3FpK__1l-MKLnabA=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/Mark-Consuelos-Shares-the-Painful-Realization-Hes-Had-Since-His-Fathers-Death-051126-1-8a9629713db141389e3252f04cda38db.jpg\" alt=\"Mark Consuelos on ' I've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario'Credit: I've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario\" title=\"ark Consuelos Shares the Painful Realization He's Had Since His Father\u2019s Death \" \/><figcaption><i>Mark Consuelos on &#8216; I&#8217;ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario&#8217;<br \/>Credit: I&#8217;ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 55-year-old says he was in tech rehearsals for <em>Fallen Angels<\/em> when his father died, forcing him to \u201ccompartmentalize\u201d his grief while continuing to work on the production. \u201cIt was a welcomed distraction because I had to do this,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>But when his family gathered for a memorial service, the loss became more real. \u201cWe just had a memorial for him this past Monday, where the family all got together,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd the reality of him being gone hit, of him <em>actually<\/em> being gone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though he says he still feels his father\u2019s presence strongly, the actor became emotional while describing what he misses most.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am starting to\u2026,\u201d Consuelos says before taking a deep breath. \u201cI\u2019m going to miss just giving him a hug and holding his hand and just laughing with him. That\u2019s something I\u2019ve never said in my life. Broadway star!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That inspired Consuelos to share how he honors his father before walking onstage each night. \u201cI do look up in the house every now and again,\u201d he says. \u201cYou can\u2019t really see, because of the lights. And I kind of picture [him]. He served his country for 30 years. Ended up at Special Operations Command in Tampa. This young kid from Mexico just got his education from the Navy. Was always going to school.\u00a0Was brilliant.
