Dave Grohl<\/a> shared the reaction he received after sharing his surprising pre-show ritual with his doctor.<\/p>\n
During the Wednesday, April 22 episode of the <\/a>Dish<\/em><\/a> podcast<\/a>, the Foo Fighters<\/a> frontman opened up about a time “maybe eight years ago” when he got his vocal cords checked out by a doctor.<\/p>\n
Grohl, 57, told hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett that at the time he had \u201cnever done\u201d that.<\/p>\n

Grohl then revealed that after the doctor stuck a camera down his throat,\u00a0“he goes, \u2018Wow, they look great.’ And I said, \u2018You’re kidding.’\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said, \u2018No, they look amazing. Do you do vocal warmups?’ I said, \u2018No, I don’t.’ And he goes, \u2018Okay, do you do like vocal cool downs after a show?’ I said, \u2018No,'” he recalled.<\/p>\n
Then, Grohl revealed how he really prepped his voice before a concert.<\/p>\n

I might take an Advil because my knees hurt, my ankles hurt, whatever,\u00a0I’m\u00a0old. Um, then I have a shot of whiskey.\u00a0And then once the beer is done,\u00a0I’ll\u00a0open another beer,” he said.<\/p>\n
Added Grohl, “Then\u00a0we’ll\u00a0maybe have\u00a0a\u00a0group shot of whiskey. Which we call \u2018band prayer,’\u00a0and then someone will say 15\u00a0minutes,\u00a0and I open one more beer and have one more shot.\u00a0And then hit the stage.’\u201d<\/p>\n
His doctor appeared to be impressed by his regimen.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy doctor said, \u2018Just\u00a0don’t\u00a0change what\u00a0you’re\u00a0doing.\u00a0It’s\u00a0working!’ And I was like, \u2018Ok, great!’ And that’s it!” said Grohl.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere in the podcast episode, Grohl spoke about the first thing he does for his kids when he gets home from tour.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, the first thing I do when I come home from being on tour is I like to cook for the family,\u201d he said. \u201cI love to get straight into the kitchen, and whether it’s making a roast over the weekend or it’s a pasta, I usually bring the comfort, like I’m home and I bring the comfort to the kids.”<\/p>\n
The musician shares three daughters<\/a> with his wife Jordyn Blum<\/a>: Violet Maye, 20, Harper Willow, 17, and Ophelia Saint, 11. In September 2024, Grohl became a father for the fourth time<\/a> with another woman.<\/p>\n
