Prime Video\u2019s Invincible<\/em><\/a> shows off the dark side of a heroic life.<\/p>\n

The animated series \u2014 based on Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley\u2019s comic series of the same name \u2014 follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, whose father is the most powerful superhero in the world, Omni-Man.<\/p>\n

However, as Mark, who is voiced by Steven Yeun<\/a>, begins to develop powers of his own, he discovers his father, voiced by J.K. Simmons<\/a>, may not be as heroic as he thought.<\/p>\n

Invincible<\/em> returned for a fourth season on March 18, and Variety<\/em><\/a> reported a fifth has already been ordered.<\/p>\n

As viewers prepare to return to the high-stakes world, here’s a look at the characters of Invincible<\/em> side by side with the actors who voice them.<\/p>\n

Yeun takes center stage in Invincible<\/em> as the lead hero \u2014 Mark Grayson, a.k.a Invincible. However, his experience with saving the world takes on a darker edge as he realizes exactly what it might entail.<\/p>\n

Speaking to PEOPLE in February 2025, Yeun said that the show hints at the \u201cuniversal truths<\/a> of what it means to mentor somebody and be mentored by somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

That same month, he told CGMagazine<\/a> that the cast have good relationships with one another, even if they don\u2019t get to work together all the time since they have a \u201cshared understanding that [they\u2019re] all contributing to something [they] believe in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVoice acting is really different, but I enjoy it,” the actor added about the medium. “I love being in the booth, isolated in my own experience. If anything, voice acting has taught me to embrace a level of shamelessness that I really appreciate.”<\/p>\n

As Debbie Grayson, Mark\u2019s human and non-superpowered mom, Sandra Oh<\/a> stands out from the rest of the cast, and her humanity grounds the show.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The New Zealand Herald<\/em><\/a> in February 2025, the actress noted that her character is \u201cthe heart\u201d and \u201cthe mother\u201d of the series, and her unique abilities are rooted in embodying those elements.<\/p>\n

Asked why her character resonates so strongly, she replied, \u201cWhat I think is relatable is that those of us who have children know what that\u2019s like, to have to let them go for them to become their own adults.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simmons brings the strongest character to life in Invincible \u2014 <\/em>the titular hero\u2019s dad, Omni-Man, an otherworldly Viltrumite who was sent to Earth with nefarious purposes. His heroics hide a darker side, which shocks viewers at times.<\/p>\n

Describing the project as iconic, Simmons told GQ<\/em><\/a> <\/strong>in August 2024 that he initially passed on it when he was approached to play a different character, even though he thought it was \u201creally smart and weird and cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis sounds silly, because it’s animated, but I just kind of didn’t see myself as the character that they were saying they would want me to play,\u201d he admitted, explaining his decision changed when he was offered the role of Omni-Man, along with the chance to work with Yeun and Oh.<\/p>\n

However, he didn\u2019t know \u201chow twisted\u201d his role could be, admitting, “I was just reading the first script, maybe the first two. So, to me, it was another interesting dad character.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lee Pace<\/a> will make his debut in the show\u2019s fourth season as Thragg, the ultimate villain in the Invincible<\/em> universe and the leader of the Viltrumites. A teaser<\/a> introducing the character makes it clear that taking him down is the key goal for heroes, but it\u2019s not going to be an easy job.<\/p>\n

Taking on an iconic role in the franchise was exciting for Pace, who hyped Thragg up in an October 2025 chat with Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

“As I was learning more about the story we were setting up, what I saw was a character with a lot of depth and a lot of different extremes,” he teased. “He goes through a lot … I’ve also never done anything like this before.”<\/p>\n

Mark\u2019s love interest and fellow superhero, Atom Eve, is brought to life by Gillian Jacobs<\/a> in the series. After a near-death experience in season 3, she returns to the show, learning about a new power she possesses.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Collider<\/a> in February 2025, Jacobs admitted that she wasn\u2019t familiar with the source material before getting a chance to join the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I told people in my life about this show, I have never gotten such a strong, enthusiastic response of people saying like, \u2018I love that comic, I’m obsessed with it,\u2019 ” she recalled, explaining that she became a fan after signing on and diving into the universe.<\/p>\n

She continued, adding, \u201cSo I went from not knowing about it to having like, oh, God, we have a high bar. This is a really beloved comic. And I heard that firsthand from people in my life.”<\/p>\n

As the director of the Global Defense Agency, Walton Goggins<\/a>\u2019 Cecil Stedman is a polarizing character who has a fraught relationship with Mark.<\/p>\n

The trailer<\/a> for the fourth season hints that Stedman is trying to balance the trauma that the hero experienced in the season 3 finale with his need to keep the world protected.<\/p>\n

In April 2024, he told ComicBook.com<\/a> that a live-action version of Invincible<\/em> wasn\u2019t in the cards for him after his role in Fallout<\/em><\/a>, saying, \u201cI think I\u2019ve already played an old man. I don\u2019t think I could do that again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matthew Rhys<\/a> will make his debut in the fourth season of the hit series, and it appears he\u2019s being set up to take center stage in the future. After Variety<\/em><\/a> announced his involvement in a mystery role in July 2025, fans learned that the The Beast in Me<\/em> star was voicing Dinosaurus.<\/p>\n

Dinosaurus is a villain that Mark faces off against. However, those familiar with the original story likely know that the character develops a unique relationship with Yeun\u2019s titular hero.<\/p>\n

As the second child of Omni-Man, Christian Convery<\/a>\u2019s Kid Omni-Man is one of the youngest heroes.<\/p>\n

Convery told ScreenRant<\/a> in February 2025 that his character had \u201ca lot to learn\u201d after taking things too far in battle. But the actor added that there was space to evolve, saying, \u201cHe\u2019s going to develop his journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing, he teased that \u201che\u2019s going to expand,\u201d adding that he would \u201chopefully\u201d become \u201cmore sensitive.\u201d<\/p>\n
