Plus, Cape Cod communities will continue to be eligible for The Campbell\u2019s Foundation\u2019s grant program, which provides funding to groups that increase food access.<\/p>\n<p>Cape Cod Potato Chips and Campbell&#8217;s Company did not immediately respond to PEOPLE&#8217;s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The beloved chip brand was founded in Hyannis in 1980 and the plant has been operating since 1985. Tourists used to have access to the factory with self-guided tours but those halted during COVID. The brand sells dozens of kettle-cooked chip varieties, from Classic Sea Salt to Tuscan Herb Infused and Jalape\u00f1o Ranch to Honey BBQ.<\/p>\n<p>Fans were adamantly against the move on social media with comments criticizing the change. \u201cNot buying the Chips anymore if the original factory does indeed close and production is not on the cape at all,\u201d one person wrote and another person echoed, \u201cCampbells better rename the chips to something else.
