The hairstyle comes less than a month after <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/the-kelly-clarkson-show-ending-after-seven-seasons-11898089\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a> concluded its seven-season run on Aug. 31.<\/p>\n<p>During her conversation with Meyers, Clarkson looked back on the show\u2019s <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kelly-clarkson-sings-her-final-kellyoke-as-her-talk-show-wraps-seven-season-run-12074713\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">final Kellyoke performance<\/a> and the surprisingly difficult song she chose to close out the beloved segment.<\/p>\n<p>Clarkson selected <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/there-is-a-song-of-the-summer-and-it-s-golden-from-k-pop-demon-hunters-11794774\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cGolden\u201d<\/a> from <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kpop-demon-hunters-behind-the-scenes-facts-11794013\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>KPop Demon Hunters<\/em><\/a> as her final song because the chart-topping hit \u201cwas the most requested,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/people.com\/thmb\/wdJayNfAszFZzXdp9HtQUGBTGGs=\/fit-in\/1280x960\/Kelly-Clarkson-Late-Night-2026-092226-2570200c83144db38525cd1b2fbb4ff6.jpg\" alt=\"Kelly Clarkson during an interview with host Seth Meyers on September 21, 2026Credit: Paula Lobo\/NBC via Getty\" title=\"Kelly Clarkson during an interview with host Seth Meyers on September 21, 2026\" \/><figcaption><i>Kelly Clarkson during an interview with host Seth Meyers on September 21, 2026<br \/>Credit: Paula Lobo\/NBC via Getty<\/i><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The singer said performing Kellyoke every day had been \u201cmy decision from the jump,\u201d but that didn\u2019t mean the final song came easily.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat song is basically humans against AI,\u201d she said. \u201cI had never practiced that hard on a song. Usually I\u2019m just a fan of music. We can even show up, and it\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, we have to change a song at the last minute?\u2019 We can do it on the fly a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that one, it is very high and hard,\u201d Clarkson added of the song, originally performed by <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/super-bowl-2-26-k-pop-demon-hunters-ejae-sings-phil-collins-against-all-odds-exclusive-11889184\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">EJAE<\/a>, <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kpop-demon-hunters-stars-explain-2026-grammys-looks-11897091\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">REI AMI<\/a> and <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kpop-demon-hunters-golden-trio-react-to-record-breaking-success-of-their-movie-changed-the-world-exclusive-11895537\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Audrey Nuna<\/a> as the fictional band <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/is-huntr-x-a-real-band-kpop-demon-hunters-11803395\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HUNTR\/X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Her son, <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/all-about-kelly-clarkson-brandon-blackstock-kids-11786602\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Remington Alexander<\/a>, 10, also noticed the challenge while Clarkson practiced the song at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I first started singing it, my son, who cannot help but be honest, just kept doing a walk-by in the house and being like, \u2018That sounds real high,\u2019 \u201d she said. Clarkson is also mom to daughter <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/all-about-kelly-clarkson-brandon-blackstock-kids-11786602\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">River Rose<\/a>, 11.<\/p>\n<p>Clarkson recalled responding, \u201c\u2018It is, Remington! I was so proud when people liked it,\u201d she said. <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kelly-clarkson-worked-hard-to-not-sound-like-dying-cat-singing-golden-final-kellyoke-12134601\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cI worked really hard.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Looking back, Clarkson joked that the song had gotten the better of her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018That song\u2019 \u2014 I don\u2019t know if you can say this, but it made me its bitch a little bit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>With <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/inside-the-kelly-clarkson-show-bittersweet-finale-exclusive-12071765\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em><\/a> now behind her, Clarkson is continuing to make music and return to the television screen in a different role.<\/p>\n<p>She released her new single \u201cI\u2019d Be Lyin\u2019\u201d in July and is back as a coach on <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/the-voice-2026-fall-tv-preview-exclusive-12021815\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Voice<\/em><\/a> for Season 30 alongside <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/riley-green-11950574\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Riley Green<\/a>, <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/queen-latifah\/\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Queen Latifah<\/a> and <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/tag\/adam-levine\/\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"4\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adam Levine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She is also looking ahead to her first <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/stagecoach-music-festival-11960671\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stagecoach<\/a> performance in 2027 after being named to the festival lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, Meyers wanted to know whether Clarkson had already started thinking about what she would wear for the country music festival. Her answer? I don\u2019t know,\u201d she explained. \u201cI don\u2019t know where I\u2019m at that day, Seth. I don\u2019t know what I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Meyers asked whether she decides on her <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/kelly-clarkson-reveals-why-she-waits-until-showtime-pick-outfit-12134364\" data-type=\"\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">outfit the day of a performance<\/a>, Clarkson said that\u2019s essentially how she approaches it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPretty much,\u201d <em>The Voice<\/em> judge said. \u201cWe roll in with maybe five outfits, and they\u2019re very different&#8230; I might be bloated, Seth!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI usually go off whatever.
