All About Caleb Downs’ Siblings, Brother Josh and Sister Kameron

Josh and Caleb will play against each other in the upcoming NFL season

For Dallas Cowboys defensive back Caleb Downs, football runs in his family.

His parents, Gary and Tanya Downs, welcomed daughter Kameron on Nov. 28, 1998, followed by son Josh on Aug. 12, 2001, and Caleb on Dec. 10, 2004. The siblings came from an athletic background: Gary played in the NFL, as did their uncle, Dré Bly.

Unsurprisingly, all three Downs children became interested in sports. Kameron played soccer in college, while Josh is a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts.

The competitive environment helped make Caleb, the youngest sibling, the athlete he is today.

“Just [Josh] making me tougher since I was a kid, and I feel like a lot of the things that shape who I am today is based off of me learning from him and watching how he succeeded, how he failed,” Caleb said in a July 2025 interview on Cleveland.com‘s Buckeye Talk podcast. “Just as a younger sibling that creates a lot of knowledge and wisdom and how you want to operate. So, I feel like that’s helped me grow a lot faster than most and I just appreciate him for it.”

Josh plays for the Indianapolis Colts

In college, Josh played football at the University of North Carolina, which Caleb says “set the tone” for him “in so many ways.”

“That’s where we really got close, honestly. Him being able to watch my high school career and me being able to watch him in college, not play his freshman year … and then his sophomore year taking off and doing everything he did,” Caleb said on an August 2026 episode of The Pivot Podcast. “I think we just both gained a lot of respect for each other through those encounters, and just seeing the transition of our lives happen.”

Josh was ultimately drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, where he plays as a wide receiver.

When his brother, Caleb, was drafted in the first round by the Dallas Cowboys in April 2026, Josh got emotional, telling ESPN’s SportsCenter, “Could have been the fifth pick, could have been the first pick. He is the best player in the draft.”

“I’m emotional because he’s always been the best player on the field, but I’m excited and I play him this year, so we get to run it back from high school. Let’s do it,” he continued, per Sports Illustrated.

Josh and Caleb are set to face off against each other on Nov. 8, when the Cowboys and Colts hit the field during Week 9 of the NFL season.

Caleb and Josh host a podcast together

Since August 2025, Caleb and Josh have hosted the podcast Downs 2 Business.

“This isn’t just a show, it’s our real lives,” Caleb said ahead of the podcast’s launch, per Sports Illustrated. “We’re bringing fans inside the game, the grind, and the off-the-field side that most people never see. Downs 2 Business is about keeping it honest, having fun, and showing what it really means to be an athlete today.”

The most recent episode, which was released in September 2026, featured an interview with Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The brothers and their father started a foundation to help prevent homelessness

In 2024, Gary, Caleb and Josh formed the Trust Downs Foundation, which works to combat “homelessness in Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Columbus,” according to the organization’s website.

“Through funding, resources, and platform visibility, the Foundation supports organizations that provide shelter and essential services to those in need,” the foundation’s bio reads. “As part of their long-term vision, the Foundation also offers a scholarship fund to uplift youth facing financial and personal hardships.”

Over the years, the foundation has put on a number of fundraisers, football camps and food/clothing drives.

“Homelessness is a huge cause and a huge thing in America,” Josh said in July 2025 after a fundraiser to benefit the Huckleberry House in Columbus, Ohio, per Bucknuts. “So, we feel like with the resources we’ve been blessed with, we can help give back to the community in any way possible.”

Kameron played soccer for Kennesaw State University

Josh and Caleb’s older sister, Kameron, is an athlete in her own right. She was a forward for the Kennesaw State Owls women’s soccer team at Kennesaw State University, where she majored in biochemistry.

Kameron followed in the footsteps of her mom, Tanya, who played soccer from “childhood through high school,” according to Fox Sports.

She is currently attending medical school

According to a May 2021 Instagram post, Kameron graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.S.

She is currently a student at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, according to her Instagram bio. Kameron is part of the graduating class of 2027.

Caleb is inspired by his sister

Caleb has been vocal about how Kameron has inspired him to work hard, even through tough times.

“My sister, she had two ACL tears in high school, and still found a way to go play college soccer,” he said during an April 2026 press conference, per a video posted on the Dallas Cowboys Instagram. “So I feel like going through trials and finding a way to overcome them is something I always took from her.”

“The strength she showed through that, and even now the dedication she has in her medical school,” he continued. “She’s great and I feel everything she’s dedicated her life to is inspiration to me.”
